Why do they suddenly sprout seemingly overnight? Which mushrooms are safe, and which are poisonous? Join us as we explore the fungi found in the woods surrounding Depot Road Park in West Monroe, NY with SUNY ESF Professor of Mycology, Dr. Alex Weir. Depot Road Park is a small recreation park located at the end of Depot Road off of Route 49 in West Monroe, and is surrounded by the fields, wetlands and forests of Happy Valley Wildlife Management Area. We’ll meet at the park and walk the nearby areas of habitat, looking for interesting mushrooms. We’ll talk about mushroom identification, their life cycles, and their relationships to other organisms in their environments. Register Today!
