Hemlock Woolly Adelgid Learning Series » On Thursday, November 20th, 6:00 – 7:30 pm, we’ll hold the last 2025 Book and Beverage Club gathering to discuss two contemplative books presenting thoughts about conservation, its importance, and the ways we make a difference. And we’ll discuss possibilities for next year’s selections! We will meet in hybrid form – in person with an online option. Everyone registered will receive an online meeting link by email shortly before the meeting date if they prefer oir need to join in online from another location, along with a suggested drink recipe. Our in-person meeting location is still to be determined but will likely be closer to Watertown. The books we are reading for November 20th are: A Sand County Almanac by Aldo Leopold – great nature writing with an outspoken and highly ethical regard for America’s relationship to the land by an author commonly thought of as the father of conservation in the U.S. The Serviceberry by Robin Wall Kimmerer – as indigenous scientist, and author of Braiding Sweetgrass, Robin Wall Kimmerer harvests serviceberries alongside the birds, she considers the ethic of reciprocity that lies at the heart of the gift economy. How, she asks, can we learn from indigenous wisdom and the plant world to reimagine what we value most? RSVP HERE This outing qualifies for inclusion on your list for the Winter Fun Challenge!
