Volunteers are invited to help remove invasive water chestnut and yellow iris plants that threaten local waterways and habitats. Participants may choose to take part in one or both removal efforts. This event is also part of the Land Protectors Learning Experience. Date: Wednesday, July 22, 2026 Alternate Rain Date: Thursday, July 23, 2026 Time: 9:00am – 3:00pm Meet Location: Montario Point Boat Launch in Ellisburg, NY Water Chestnut Removal (9:00 AM – 1:00 PM) Please arrive by 8:45 AM to prepare your watercraft and equipment for launch. Opening remarks and instructions will begin promptly at 9:00 AM. Participants should bring a bagged lunch to enjoy during the event. Yellow Iris Removal (1:15 PM – 3:00 PM) Meet at the boat launch parking area at 1:15 PM. Equipment will be provided. Please wear sturdy closed-toe shoes; muck boots are recommended.
