What if you’re out hunting somewhere off-trail or in a remote location without cell service? Join us and Tug Hill Outfitters in learning how to use a map and compass to find your way in and out of the woods, and decrease your chances of getting lost. Event Details Sunday, November 13th 1pm-4pm This course will be held on a protected property on private land near Camden, NY. The exact location will be sent to registrants via email the week of November 7th Parking is limited to 8 vehicles, so registration is required by Thursday, November 10th In this entry level course, we’ll get back to basics. Learn how to read a compass and map, then apply your skills by getting outside to locate hidden flags, following a course that will test what you will have learned about land navigation. Attendees should bring a gallon zip lock bag or a map case to hold maps that will be provided. A few compasses will be available to borrow, but it is recommended that if attendees have their own compass (especially if a base plate compass) that they bring their own. Be sure and dress appropriately for the weather and wear sturdy footwear.
