SUMMARY:Evening Bird Walk at Whitaker Park
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a relaxing evening bird walk at Whitaker Park in the Town of Martinsburg\, Lewis County. Whitaker Park offers one of Lewis County’s best views of the Black River Valley and the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains. Nestled on the eastern slope of the Tug Hill Plateau\, wooded trails direct the park-goer to overlooks of pristine waterfalls characteristic of the area’s gorges and unique geology. \nWe’ll meet at the parking area at end of Whitaker Park Road\, then take an easy walk back along the road and perhaps take the trail to see the gorge. As we walk\, we’ll share tips for finding\, identifying and observing spring and summer birds.  This will be an easy\, slow walk through field and forest habitats with frequent stops. Bring your binoculars if you have them\, wear sturdy shoes for hiking trails and rocky surfaces\, and bring along some insect repellent\, just in case.
