SUMMARY:Pedaling on Boonville's Black River Feeder Canal
DESCRIPTION:Take a relaxing bike ride along the historic Black River Feeder Canal! \nEvent Details\n\nSaturday\, July 24th\nBeginning at 10:00 am\nWe’ll meet you with your bike at the northeast side of the covered bridge in Erwin Park\, NYS Route 12\, Boonville\, where the towpath trail begins. Pedal as far as you like\, or ride the full 20-mile round trip all the way to Forestport and back\n\nThis quiet trip through woods and fields on a dirt/gravel path uses what used to be the towpath for the Boonville to Forestport Feeder Canal. Hybrid bikes work best for this trail. There are occasional potholes\, and several road crossings with gates. Bring water\, lunch and/or snack if you’d like. The Forestport Diner and Campbell’s Diner are both easily accessible in Forestport if you prefer to eat there. Participants may wish to visit the Boonville Black River Canal Museum after the bike ride. The museum is located across NYS Route 12 from Erwin Park\, on the corner of Main Street just south of the covered bridge after the bike ride. \nTo get to our starting point in Boonville: From the north\, take NYS Route 12 south to Boonville\, turn left onto Park Drive into Erwin Park\, then left to park near the covered bridge. From Rome\, follow Route 46 north to Boonville. Turn right on Schuyler Street and then right on Route 12 south. Turn left on Park Drive into Erwin Park\, then left to park near the covered bridge. From Utica\, follow Route 12 north to Boonville. Turn right on Park Drive into Erwin Park\, then left to park near the covered bridge. \nRegister Here \n\n\n\n
