DESCRIPTION:Landowners\, Cary Fassler and Deb Kahkejian will lead us along this moderate three mile hike of their trail system. You’ll experience forestland\, rolling meadows\, and wetlands that are home to a variety of wildlife on this 970-acre Land Trust property\, protected by THTLT. \nWe’ll meet at the Fassler and Kahkejian residence at 398 State Route 69\, Williamstown\, NY (mailing address is Williamstown\, actual location is just east of Amboy). Look for a Tug Hill Tomorrow Land Trust sandwich board that will be posted at the entrance. \nPlan on wearing sturdy boots\, or bringing your snowshoes\, and wearing plenty of warm layers. DESCRIPTION:Night-time is the right time to look for these amazing birds of prey\, and you can join Tug Hill Tomorrow Land Trust (THTLT) and the North Country Bird Club as we go on an owl prowl. If you love birds and are looking for an excuse to get outside\, this is the perfect hike for you. The outing is free and open to the public. \nPlan to meet in the parking lot at 31270 Middle Road\, in Rutland\, NY. Look for the large wildlife sanctuary sign that is in front of the parking lot entrance\, as well as our THTLT logo sign.  Bring along a flashlight or headlamp\, dress for the weather\, and wear sturdy boots or shoes. SUMMARY:Black River Forest Ski or Snowshoe Day
DESCRIPTION:We are partnering with the Black River Outdoor Education Program (BROEP)\, Boonville\, NY\, to offer an experience normally not available to the general public. Even if you have been out on the BREIA trails before\, chances are you haven’t been here yet.\nCross-country skis\, boots\, poles\, and snowshoes are available free of charge for those not bringing their own equipment.  BROEP can also supply snow pants\, ski boots\, hats\, mittens\, and more. Everything you need to ski or snowshoe comfortably is available if you need it. All trails are groomed for skiing and snowshoeing. Trained coaches will be on hand to help those new to skiing and snowshoeing learn and have fun. THTLT will provide hot chocolate\, coffee\, tea and light snacks at the lodge\, however you will need to bring your lunch with you should you need more of a meal. \nRegistration is now closed as this event is at capacity. We hope to see you at one of our other upcoming events!

This outing showcases the Black River Forest\, with its beautiful lodge nestled deep in the flat meadow basin of a prehistoric kettle surrounded by 1300 feet high escarpments and 8 miles of trails that is normally not open to the public. You will travel through a variety of forest habitats as you explore these moderately hilly trails by foot or by bike.  BROEP can provide mountain bikes for up to 40 participants who cannot bring their own. \nPLEASE NOTE THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED We hope to plan a winter snowshoe in January or February\, please stay tuned.

DESCRIPTION:Bring your kayak out for this easygoing paddle! Kayakers of all skill levels are welcome to attend so invite your family and friends for an afternoon of weekend fun. Life jackets are required. For a packing list\, we suggest wearing comfortable outdoor clothes\, as well as bringing any water/snacks you may need. \nDirections: Take Rt. 13 from Pulaski or Camden. Westdale is about 4.5 miles south east of Williamstown\, and about 5 miles northwest of Camden. Turn onto Cemetery Road and head for the DEC parking lot.

DESCRIPTION:Due to the chance of severe thunderstorms we are CANCELLING this outing.  Please consider joining us for a paddle in August on either the 11th in Westdale or the 21st in Watertown. See these events listed on our events page. \nRelax and unwind after work by exploring Whetstone Gulf State Park Reservoir on the night of the full moon with THTLT. This field trip will be led by board member and kayaking enthusiast Janet Thompson. All levels of paddling experience\, from beginner to advanced are welcome! \nPlease bring your kayak or canoe\, PFD\, headlamp\, and bug dope. The Land Trust will provide extra water and snacks. \nDirections: From Houseville on Rt 26\, take Houseville Gulf Rd west 3.6 miles.  This road starts out paved then turns into a rough dirt road with rocks and potholes. Covering state\, federal\, and privately protected lands this is an amazing opportunity to explore a new area. \nVolunteers are leading the charge to create this exciting new trail. To date they have completed 3.5 miles of trail since last summer. This round of trail work you will help clear downed debris from the trail\, and help build a bridge crossing. \nBring your favorite tools (clippers\, saw\, etc.)\, water\, brown bag lunch\, and plenty of sunscreen and bug dope. Please wear sturdy work or hiking boots\, and comfortable work clothes. \nDriving Directions to Michigan Mills Road: Plan to meet at the end of Michigan Mills Road in Constableville. To get to Michigan Mills Road\, take Highmarket Road NW off NYS Route 26 out of Constableville to Highmarket\, continue NW through Highmarket (pavement ends and road gets rough) for about 8 miles to a grass parking area with a DEC kiosk on the north side of the road\, just before the bridge across East Branch Fish Creek. Allow at least 20 minutes to get from Constableville to the parking area. \n

SUMMARY:Kids Nature Photo Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join local photographer Emmanuel Vaucher\, and Tug Hill Tomorrow Land Trust for a FREE two-part Nature Photography Workshop for Kids. Vaucher will work one-on-one with students\, and as always questions and creativity are encouraged. There is no set age range for students\, we only ask that participants can stay focused and work independently during the two-hour workshop. Regarding cameras any and all are welcome. Bring whatever your kid uses most often whether it’s an iPhone or DSLR. A note about weather\, this workshop will be held rain or shine and will not be rescheduled if cancelled. This free workshop is limited to 15 children and their parents or chaperones.

Blake Wildlife Sanctuary in Rutland. \nWe’ll be clearing the trails of winter debris\, picking up litter\, and making sure everything is in good condition. Open year-round to the public for hiking\, biking\, snowshoeing and XC skiing\, the Joseph A. Blake Wildlife Sanctuary is the perfect place to visit with kids. The sanctuary is forever conserved by THTLT\, and free public programs are offered year-round for everyone to explore and learn about nature. \nFamilies and children are encouraged to attend! Please wear sturdy boots and comfortable work clothes. Pack a brown bag lunch\, extra water\, sunscreen\, bug dope\, and bee sting kit if appropriate. Bring your favorite loppers and gloves. THTLT will provide extra tools and gloves for volunteers.
