SUMMARY:Blake Sanctuary Owl Prowl Twilight Walk
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy a twilight walk and owl prowl with THTLT at the Joseph A. Blake Wildlife Sanctuary. We’ll learn about the ways animals are adapted to a low-light lifestyle\, look for all types of animal tracks and signs\, and look and listen for owls! The outing will begin in the parking lot with a brief learning session to discuss animal adaptations and the owls we might encounter. Then we’ll take a twilight walk with activities along the way that explore how owls and other animals navigate in low to no light. We’ll stop in the woods to listen and look! Bring along a flashlight or headlamp\, dress for the weather\, and wear sturdy waterproof boots or shoes. If there is enough snow\, and you have them\, you are welcome to use snowshoes. \nRegister Here

SUMMARY:Osceola Old Growth Forest Hike
DESCRIPTION:**This date is the rescheduled event date \nIf you have ever wondered how large trees over one hundred years old can be and love fall foliage\, then this is the hike for you. We invite you to explore one of the most remote\, beautiful old growth forests on Tug Hill as naturalist and outdoorsman\, Bob McNamara leads this hike. Plan on wearing sturdy boots\, as we will be doing off-trail hiking over moderately difficult terrain. The payoff for your efforts will be experiencing trees that have grown uninterrupted for hundreds of years. This hike is free and open to the community. \nWe will meet at the Osceola Tug Hill XC Ski Center (1486 Osceola Rd.\, Camden\, NY 13316) parking area and we’ll carpool to the site from there. As a reference point\, the XC Ski Center is located half a mile east of the Osceola Hotel. Google maps link: http://bit.ly/OsecolaXC ; GPS coordinates: 43.499682\, -75.712852. Please note that there is no cell phone reception at this location\, so you will need to screen shot your map and directions before heading out\, or use a paper map. Bring along a brown bag lunch\, water\, and wear comfortable hiking clothes and boots. \nAs a special promotion for hike attendees only\, the guidebook illustrated by McNamara\, “Tug Hill: A Four Season Guide to the Natural Side” will be sold for $15 (usually $27). Pick up your book at the hike and Bob will sign it for you. \nRegister Today!
