PLACES TO EXPLORE
Joseph A. Blake Wildlife Sanctuary
Town of Rutland – Jefferson County, NY
Thanks to a donation in 2012 by the North Country Bird Club to the Tug Hill Tomorrow Land Trust, we own and manage this special place for recreation, education, and wildlife conservation.
The 144-acre property is located in the town of Rutland, just minutes from Watertown and offer 5 miles of trails perfect for kids as well as those who may want gentle trail experience.
The property is named after the Bird Club Member who found the land and currently offers opportunities for walking, hiking, mountain biking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and wildlife observation.
Trail maintenance and improvements are handled by volunteers in partnership with our land trust staff as we work to improve access and expand the trail system.
