The Tug Hill Bird Quest is an annual region-wide bird feeder watching event held each May. With THTLT supplying fun bird information, birding tips and learning resources in the weeks prior, it’s a great way to learn more about the birds that visit your neighborhood and backyard. And your observations contribute to a multi-year record of birds visiting the region each spring.

The event is open to school classrooms, homeschools, youth groups, families or individuals interested in observing and learning about birds in the Tug Hill region.

The Bird Quest is a great activity to incorporate into any part of a learning curriculum, with many options for interdisciplinary lessons.

Schools, homeschools and youth groups may request a free bird feeder, birdseed and/or Tug Hill natural resource guide if needed to participate. Supplies are provided on a first come, first-served basis as available.

Register by March 31, 2025. All teams receive daily Bird of the Day emails April – May with bird ID info and photos.
Observe your feeder station or favorite birding spot and record your observations once each week May 4 – 29. THTLT supplies a tally sheet for you to record the birds you see each week.
Complete and return your completed tally sheet no later than June 6th. A completed report will be sent out to participating teams and event sponsors in mid- June.
Each team that returns a tally by June 6th is entered in a drawing to win a fabulous prize!
