This time of year mushrooms can be found growing quietly in forest nooks and crannies. Join expert mushroom hunter and naturalist Steven Daniel as he leads you on an off-trail quest to locate these uniquely wonderful fungi. We will learn a bit about poisonous and edible varieties, and where you are most likely to find certain species this time of year. Bring your questions and curiosity to this hike!
Please note this quest will take place in the woods, and we will not be following a trail. Expect to cover 2-3 miles over rolling, forested ground. Pack a brown bag lunch, mushroom collecting basket, walking stick, and wear comfy clothes and hiking boots. THTLT will provide extra water and snacks.
Plan to meet at 2029 Osceola Road. Google maps directions: http://bit.ly/MushroomDirections. This parking area is located on the north side of the Osceola-West Leyden Road, 4.5 miles east of the hamlet of Osceola, on the west side of the bridge where the Salmon River crosses under the road.
