Joseph A. Blake Wildlife Sanctuary
Thanks to a donation by the North Country Bird Club, we have our very own property in the town of Rutland, just minutes from Watertown, and it’s all for you to enjoy! The property will still be known as the Joseph A. Blake Wildlife Sanctuary (named after the Bird Club Member who found the land), and is for hiking, mountain biking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and wildlife observation, only. We are constantly working to improve access and expand the trail system and will be hosting monthly programs free and opened to the public. Click here to view a map of the trails. We are always looking for help keeping the trails maintained. If interested, let us know. To find out where the Wildlife Sanctuary is, please download this location map, and enjoy your visit!
The Weiman property is located in West Turin, NY. The landowners have opened a trail to the East Branch of Fish Creek for the public for hiking, fishing, birdwatching, snowshoeing, and cross country skiing. As with any public access trail, please be considerate of the land as well as other visitors. If interested in using this trail, download the location map.
The Trenton Greenbelt contains approximately 200-acres of relatively undeveloped land east of Holland Patent, in the Town of Trenton, Oneida County. The Greenbelt is a combination of public and private lands protected from development pressures by a variety of conservation easements and trust agreements. Landowners involved in the Greenbelt project are not compensated for letting the public use the ski and hiking trails which cross their land. It is important that their generosity be respected, and that the land be protected. Please travel only on marked trails, carry out what you carry in, and do not cut, damage, or remove trees or plants. For directions and trail maps, click here.
