NEMIER EASEMENT

In 1999, Stanley Nemier donated a conservation easement on a 76-acre heavily forested parcel which has been in his family since 1923. It was once part of the family’s 365-acre farm, and was kept as a woodlot. The Nemiers have been keeping records of spring wildflowers blooming on the property for many years, including Lily-of-the-Valley, Dutchman’s Breeches, and Canada Mayflower. Not only is this property significant for its forest and open space, but also for its recreational value. The property is bisected by Trout Brook, which has a public fishing easement encompassing 33-feet from the bank on either side of the stream. The easement allows nature trails and timber management on the property.
